Mogadishu, 1 January 2026 – On behalf of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), I extend my deep gratitude to all of you for your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to our shared mission in Somalia.
In 2025, your collective efforts under very difficult circumstances have played a key role in advancing stability, supporting Somali-led security priorities, and strengthening cooperation during this important transition period. I particularly commend our troops for their courage, sacrifice and discipline, and our civilian and police personnel for their tireless support to mission implementation.
I also express my appreciation to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and our partners for their continued collaboration and support throughout the year.
With the renewal of our mandate by the UN Security Council on 23 December 2025, AUSSOM reaffirms its commitment to continuing to support Somali-led security efforts for the country’s peace and stability in 2026 and beyond.
As we move into the New Year, may we carry forward the same spirit of unity, resilience, and shared purpose for a better and safer Somalia. I wish you and your families peace, good health, and continued strength in the year ahead.
