Mogadishu: The African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) joins the people and Government of Somalia in solemn remembrance of the victims of the October 14, 2017, terrorist bombing in Mogadishu, one of the darkest days in the nation’s history.
“On this day, we honour the memory of the hundreds of innocent men, women, and children who lost their lives, and we express our solidarity with the survivors and families who continue to endure the pain of that tragedy.
The October 14 attack serves as a painful reminder of the heavy toll that terrorism has exacted on the Somali people,” said Ambassador Mouktar Osman Kaire, OIC Head of AUSSOM and Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (DSRCC) for Somalia.
“Yet, it also stands as a testament to Somalia’s resilience and unity in the face of adversity. The courage and determination of the Somali people continue to inspire us. AUSSOM remains committed to working with the Federal Government of Somalia and all partners to build a peaceful, stable, and prosperous nation,” he added.
AUSSOM reiterates its unwavering support for Somalia in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. The Mission will continue working closely with the government in advancing the vision of peace, security, and development for all Somalis.
