AUSSOM troops conduct medical camp at Barkadi Sharifat village in Kismayo

Kismayo, 24 March 2026 – More than 137 residents in the port city of Kismayo received essential medical treatment today during a free medical camp held by Kenyan troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

The medical camp, held in Barkadi Sharifat village, was organized by the AUSSOM contingent stationed at Mlima Leone Tactical Operating Base.

During the event, medical teams treated various ailments. The medical outreach focused on helping people in need, including women, children, and the elderly.

Residents thanked the AUSSOM team and said the camp had saved them from walking long distances to access health services.

The outreach demonstrates AUSSOM’s commitment to helping people and building trust between AUSSOM peacekeepers and communities.

AUSSOM KDF troops regularly conduct free medical camps as part of the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) to support communities, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and Somali Security Forces (SSF).
